Why some networks keep a minimum balance
Some networks require each account to hold a minimum amount of the native coin. It keeps the account alive on the ledger and protects the network from spam. XRP Ledger and Solana are examples.
- The reserve cannot be sent while the account exists.
- A first transfer to a new address may need to be at least the reserve amount.
- If you try to send too much, the wallet shows the amount that must stay.
The exact rule is set by each network and can change; the wallet shows the current value on the send screen.
